Meet Ms. N.
Since its inception, Ms. N. has been a member of Little Birds. Ms. N. is HIV positive and understands very well the problems and issues other teens deal with on a daily basis. She is a good listener and very adept at talking to the other teens and counselling them through their problems. Ms. N. benefits from a strong family unit and has the love and support of her husband and daughter who have accepted her diagnosis and provide the ongoing support she needs. Ms. N. joined the Little Birds as a paid staff member in 2017.
Meet Ms. Cherrie
Ms. Cherrie has lived her whole life with HIV and struggled to go on under her overwhelming circumstances. Feeling despondent she stopped taking her life saving medications and nearly died. WIth help and support from Little Birds peer counseling and home based care program and her grandmother’s encouragement Ms. Cherrie found the courage and the strength to fight back. Today she is successfully employed and going to school on the weekends. She is managing her chronic illness, is happy, and is able to help look after her Grandmother.
